If the ENO production of Sweeney Todd this spring isn’t enough blood and gore for you, the acclaimed site specific Tooting Arts Club production is transferring to a new pop up pie shop in the West End this spring.
From Tooting Arts Club : “Fingers off lips, shout it from the rooftops, our Sweeney Todd and Harrington’s Pie and Mash are going to town! Due to its phenomenal success last year we will re-mount Sweeney Todd with the help of no other than Sir Cameron Mackintosh. But not in Tooting this time (he’s not from these parts) but on Shaftesbury Avenue! Best bib and tucker people, Tooting Arts Club is going up west…! ‘But where?’ I hear you cry! Well, as is our wont, we will take over a disused restaurant in the heart of London’s Theatreland! Keeping the collaboration with Harrington’s very much intact, we will re-build our beloved pie-shop and serve-up Harrington’s famous pie and mash as a pre-show supper! ‘When?!’ Soon! 12th March to 16th of May, so waste no time and join the party … mine’s a large gin!”
