As the FT stated in its review of Accolade in 2011 which called the play a revelation, “Neglected plays are usually neglected for a good reason …except when the Finborough stages them.” The Finborough’s production is now transferring to the St James Theatre on November 12th. The play is a portrait of the Jekyll-and-Hyde existence of a successful novelist which the Guardian says ‘is an extraordinarily bold play for its time but also one that has purchase for the present, where the private lives of public figures are meat and drink to the media.”
From the St. James Theatre: ” London 1950. Private and public worlds collide when author Will Trenting’s knighthood attracts the glare of the British press. Will is forced to battle against the exposure of his secret life and the double standards of a society bent on destroying him”
London, 1950.
