THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND – Union Theatre January 15-February 8th

I saw this revue when it was first performed in 1991 at Manhattan’s Off-Broadway Westside Theatre.  It was an instant hit and went on to win a host of awards.  I more recently saw it at the Canal Cafe in Maida Vale, and again enjoyed it. The anthology of almost three dozen songs by Kander and Ebb, many from obscure shows that i hadn’t before heard, are remarkable.  If you haven’t seen it, I suggest you catch it while it’s on at the Union Theatre.

Here’s one of the songs, A Quiet Thing from Flora the Red Menace.  It’s just a random video, not from the World Goes Round anthology–someone in Oakland singing it in a tent–but it’s a stunning song.
