Created by The British Red Cross, this immersive experience re-imagines the trials of real-life refugees throughout history. Within the stark, industrial depths of The Vaults, audiences are led on an emotive multi-sensory journey tracking the various challenges of nine refugees as they are forced from their homes in search of sanctuary. Like every refugee, each audience member’s journey is unique. Their experience is dependent on the identificuation papers they are issued before they attempt to pass medical, immigration and border control checkpoints to complete their journey. Groups of 20 will be led into the vaults to witness recreations including a portrayal of Dadaab, the largest refugee camp in the world. The event culminates in a photography and multimedia exhibition including works from photojournalist and curator of Seeking Sanctuary, Paul Conroy.
