I mentioned the Scottsboro Boys at the Young Vic a while back. The show was the last musical co-written by Broadway’s legendary partners, John Kander (composer) and Fred Ebb (lyricist), before Ebb’s death in 2004.
The UK premiere, which had a glowing review in Gareth’s Culture and Travel Blog was initially booking only through November.
Scottsboro Boys tells the true story of nine young black men, aged between 12 and 19, who were falsely accused of rape by two white women while traveling on a train through Scottsboro, Alabama in the 1930s. Their subsequent trials and appeals, lasting seven years, deeply divided the nation.
