Since my tickets were for a preview evening performance that was cancelled, I won’t be seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory until September but reviews are in.

The 4 star FT review says “This adaptation of Roald Dahl’s story delivers visual ravishment and a warm glow“.  “It is flavoursome yet familiar, and above all it won’t rot your teeth.”

The 4 star Guardian review says ” chocs away!” “The success of Sam Mendes’s production lies in its reminder that, for all the razzle-dazzle of Mark Thompson’s sets and costumes, Dahl’s story is essentially a moral fable.”
