The Donmar has had a very succesful, Olivier award nominated three year residency at the Trafalgar Studios. The final season has just been annouced and includes three adaptations of European Classics for which tickets go on sale today. Of these I will most likely book tickets to The Promise by Aleksei Arbuzov.
From the Donmar: “1943. In war-ravaged Leningrad, three orphans are thrown together by history. In the years following the siege allegiances shift, love falters and their vow of solidarity is stretched to its limits. Aleksei Arbuzov’s classic play, in this new version by Penelope Skinner, is a heartrending portrayal of youthful hope forged in war and tested by time.”
