Abigail’s Party Transfers to the West End May 15th

The Menier Chocolate Factory has had a string of successes, with the most recent being Mike Leigh’s play about 1970’s suburbia, Abigail’s Party.  The reviews were fantastic and tickets hard to come by, so those of us who missed it are in luck with its imminent transfer to the West End.

From the Theatre website:

“In 1970’s suburbia, Beverly and her husband Laurence are hosting a drinks party for their neighbours. There is plenty of alcohol, an array of cheese-pineapple savoury bites and olives, and Demis Roussos on the record player. But as tempers flare and prejudices are unmasked, the evening can only end in disaster…

Cast includes Joe Absolom (EastEnders, Doc Martin), Natalie Casey (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Legally Blonde, The Invisible Man), Jill Halfpenny (Legally Blonde – Olivier award; EastEnders, Waterloo Road), Susannah Harker (Pride and Prejudice, House of Cards) and Andy Nyman (Terrible Advice, Ghost Stories)”

“Lindsay Posner’s vibrant, splendidly cast revival” – Independent

“Savagely funny” – Financial Times

“A night of continuous guilty pleasure” – Daily Telegraph

“Great, savage fun” – Time Out

“Jill Halfpenny gives Beverly a new lease of life” – Sunday Times Culture

“Painfully funny” – The Times
