As many of my readers know, when i’m not posting about things to do in London i’m researching and trading Apple shares which involves constant due diligence. I never expected to get any info on Apple from my Tesco delivery man this morning at 6:30am but lo and behold he noticed the new Ipad on my desk and he asked if i got “THE DEAL”. He said that Tesco employees were just made aware that the company had made a terrible error on friday when the ipad was launched.
While i was at Harrod’s paying full retail price at their brand new apple shop, very lucky Tesco online shoppers were helping them selves to new ipads for £49.99. Thousands were sold. There was a mad rush to the supermarket website as social media served its purpose and let many people with similar interests in on a secret!
While it’s being debated whether Tesco must honor this price, despite it being a glitch, the fine print seems to indicate that they will be let off the hook:
“If, by mistake, we have under priced an item, we will not be liable to supply that item to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we despatch the item to you. In those circumstances, we will notify the correct price to you so you can decide whether or not you wish to order the item at that price.”
