The Artist – cinema at its best

The Artist is tipped for an Oscar

I just spent two great hours at the Gate Picturehouse enthralled with The Artist.

I can now understand why The Guardian  review said, “It is one of the most eloquent movies imaginable. ”  The soundtrack alone was reason to experience this modern day, silent movie.  That it is not a “talkie”  is not a gimmick but rather a means to a film that is deeply moving with brilliant performances.  Those that know me will know that the Jack Russel Terrier which steals most scenes, was a highlight of this great cinematic afternoon.
