I went to the National Portrait Gallery today with my mother who is on her annual October visit to London. I thought she’d enjoy the Glamour of the Gods photography exhibit (closing soon). I’m not too fond of the restaurant choices in the immediate area but we descended into the crypts of St. Martin in the Fields for an inexpensive, quite nice lunch.
Immediately outside the crypt restaurant is a place for children to do Brass Rubbings which my son enjoyed doing for a half hour. Just an idea for when you’re around Trafalgar Square and need some warmth, sustenance and something to entertain the kids.

The great news is that even if you have never tried brass rubbing before, our friendly staff will get you on track in just a few minutes. We provide all the specialist papers and metallic waxes that you need to create a superb artwork for a gift for someone special or as a unique memory of your visit to St Martin’s.
