THE TURN OF THE SCREW, by Henry James at Barons Court Theatre – 15 Nov 2011 to 27 Nov 2011

I have mentioned the intimate Barons Court theatre before, and there are a few things on their fall schedule that look interesting.  The Turn of the Screw which is one of the great supernatural novellas of all time will be staged here by CP Theatre for a fortnight.

The tale of the children, Miles and Flora; their increasingly frightened governess; the ghosts of the evil pair, Quinn and Miss Jessel, has thrilled readers for over a century. The fascinating story is normally quite difficult to stage but Barons Court’s dark, shadowy corners, stone pillars and flagstoned floors provide the perfect background for ghostly happenings. CP Theatre’s many productions here over the years normally sell out: this one is certain to do so.
