English Heritage Picnic Concerts 2011 – Kenwood House

I didn’t even know Tom Jones was still alive (!)  but he is and is kicking off The Kenwood House summer concert series in Hampstead.

I’ve learned from experience that some of these blast from the past concerts can prove surprisingly good.  My husband (the one who loves princess bride) once forced me to accompany him to a Jose Feliciano concert in Hong Kong of all places.  I was furious with him and mortified that my friends might see walking into the concert hall and it would tarnish my youthful image–but lo and behold he was pretty awesome.

So i am refraining from judging Tom Jones or even Liza Minelli (also appearing) for that matter.  The venue is beautiful, especially on a summer evening and the rest of the lineup is diverse:  Gipsy Kings, James Blunt and George Benson included.
