I had high expectations for this play based on stellar reviews and was not at all disappointed. It was a supremely well acted story about complex families and tortured souls.
The brilliant set of a Mississippi home about to be deluged with flood waters was made only more real given the current state of things in that region (Mississippi River floodgates have been opened and water is spewing towards homes….). Fiona Glascott has an amazing range in this play-from a vulnerable/asthmatic to southern/comic seductress.
The play is well worth seeing–runs through May 28th. Thrilled to know that I now have a second fantastic theatre nearby (Gate Theatre is the other). It’s a treat to be able to walk in a springtime evening breeze to the theatre, followed by dinner in Notting Hill and then a short walk home.
